The study was carried out in Ondo state which is one of datibg 36 states of the federal republic of Nigeria. Eighty percent of the population is engaged in agriculture and agricultural related activities like processing, storage and marketing of agricultural products.
The state has eighteen local government areas. A multistage Flod technique was used to select farmers in anx study area. The first stage involved the random selection of Akure South and Ifedore Local Government area from the eighteen local government areas in the state. The second stage was a proportionate and random selection of six villages in Akure south and four villages in Ifedore Local Government based on the total numbers dqting villages in each local government dahing.
